Scarbie, one of Provincetown's favorite drag performers, and titleholder (Showgirl of the Year 2005) is a former Vegas showgirl, and part Native American Indian, who never quite made it further than performing during the breakfast buffet at the International Casino of Pancakes, in the rarely reviewed and often uncriticized production "Bacon and Legs!" However she puts her heart, soul and never-ending legs into all her stage appearances. Life led her to Provincetown after an ill-fated laser bikini wax left her physically and psychologically impaired...enter LipSchtick! LipSchtick showcases Scarbie's versatility, or at least makes the most of her schizophrenia. This one man...uh...one woman...one PERSON cabaret tour de force has been wowing audiences with its on-stage-right-in-front-of-you character and costume changes. It has been compared to the classic Ptown show styling of performers such as Charles Pierce, Craig Russell, Arthur Blake and Lynn Carter. LipSchtick offers masterful impersonation, loud out loud comedy, classic drag-style lip sync, and live vocals. LipSchtick has it all and is a night of entertainment which appeals to all. David "Scarbie" Mitchell conceived and produced LipSchtick when he was one of the subjects of the documentary "Ptown Diaries" in 2006. LipSchtick was intended to be a one night event, but soon after, David was sought out by other venues (including The Venice Theatre, the largest community theater in the country) for "just one more show." Well, LipSchtick has taken on a life of its own and is now running all summer long for Ptown audiences to enjoy. Don't miss it! Also look for Scarbie every Wednesday night hosting Hump Day Karaoke! |
